Under the New Zealand Settlements Act 1863 the government confiscated 1.2 million acres (486,000 hectares) of Maori land in late 1864. Kemp in The Horowhenua was forced to give and sell land to the Government agents who wanted legal fees, cheap grazing and survey costs which were unknown at the time. Maori lost a great deal of its lands and

Pākehā settlers would occupy the confiscated land while successive governments would bring in new laws like the Public Works Acts to confiscate even more lands. The Government in 2012 will not negotiate with the direct descendents hence urban authorities with indirect links to our direct descendent lines are now taking place yet it is an injustice to Maoridom. Letters to Ministers as of March 2nd 2013 have gone unanswered with even our Maori MP's turning a blind eye.
 
 
 
 
 

LAKE HOROWHENUA & AWAWHATA STREAM IN NZ

 

 

The lakebed, dewatered zone, islands and the Hokio Stream are owned by beneficial members of the Muaupoko tribe 1511 of them in 81 shares, as determined by the Reserves and other Lands Disposal Act (ROLD) 1956. The lake waters Muaupoko Domain, dewatered zone and one chain reserve strip in front of the Muaupoko Domain are vested under the Reserves Act 1977 in the Horowhenua Lake Domain Board. To date the Crown has acknowledged they the Health Dept in 1948 said put the sewerage into the Lake and the HDC did just that. Now in Dec 2015 they will have to get it out.

The Lake Trustees have not all been informed of various meetings and have hidden agendas. The recent Colin Paki high Court may bring out a few anomolies of just what the Accord and Domain Board are doing that is not for us owners.

So much for the Lake Trust last AGM that could not even get a quorum as it was not advertised very good and the owners are tired of the tactics the MTA carry out.

Raw sewerage was not put into the Lake in August 2014 as found out it was the fracture of the pipeline by Higgins & was treated sewerage that leaked but was contained. The Domain Board has covered up certain questions put to them and Lester has since resigned from the Domain Board?

The blame is on all Maori not thinking and getting their act together. Too much bickering and nothing being achieved. Disgraceful.

So what types of monitoring equipment are on this Lake?;

Where are they located & how often are they tested and where are these tests??? The Domian Board still waiting for monitoring report from Horizons as at Dec 2015.

 

Sept 2015 The problem here is that the Trustees should be saying:

1/. When will anyone be able to swim in the Lake &

2/. What about the sludge at the bottom then go to [Arawhata flooding problem ]

so this resource consent when it goes thru will mean no clean Lake for another 35 years. However the consent was approved to start and it is a start if not a finish to the problem.
